A 32-year-old British national who was found with approximately 70lb of ganja in his luggage will have to wait until March 8 to know his fate. He is Baljinder 'Bally' Singh, charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps to export ganja and conspiracy. It is alleged that on Monday, February 21, Singh arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport, Kingston, to board an outgoing flight to England. Further allegations are that he was stopped and interviewed by airport security after which his two suitcases were searched. A quantity of compressed vegetable matter resembling ganja was found. When cautioned by the police he said, "Is the dread gave me and I only know him as 'Dread'." RM Lorna Shelly Williams has ordered that the British High Commission be notified before the accused is sentenced. |
