A man accused of punching a policeman in the face because the cop was taking too long to write up his bail bond, had his bail extended in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Kevan Brown, a carpenter from Sligoville, St Catherine.

It is alleged that on February 4, Brown and another man were charged with possession of ganja. It is alleged that they were taken to the Sligoville Police Station, charged and given station bail.

The court heard that a policeman began writing up the other man's bail bond and Brown reportedly became angry and demanded that he should be written up first as he was charged before his friend.

"A me fuss fi get write up. A mi fuss, write mi up fuss, Mi want write up now," he was reported as saying.

A policeman reportedly approached Brown to restrain him but was punched in his face and reportedly to have suffered a damaged mouth and tooth. Brown was additionally charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

He pleaded not guilty. Defence attorney Courtney Maxwell told the court his client would be using DNA test to prove he was not smoking ganja.

Brown returns to court on March 25, when the case will again be mentioned.
