The popular roots play, 'Ghett Out' which has been making the rounds on the local theatre scene, is on its way to Denham Town, west Kingston, for a charity show of which the proceeds will go to the 'What Can A Brother Do For Another Fund' which helps the elderly and indigents from the inner-city communities of that section of the Corporate Area.

The play, which features an all-star cast of Keith 'Shebada' Ramsey, Abigail 'Babalita' Grant, Maxwell 'Maama Man' Grant, Junior Williams, Orville Hall, Maylynne Lowe and Luke Ellington, will lend a hand in the first-time charity show.

Technical director for Stages Productions, Rohan Wynter, told THE STAR why the company decided to come aboard with the charity show, saying, "We are based in Kingston and our longest run has been at the venues here and we were well supported by the people of Kingston. We are also aware that many of those persons that came out each time to the play are mostly from the inner-city communities. That is our basic reason for getting onboard with the charity. Our doing this is kind of like a formal thank you to those persons who have been supporting us."

Organiser of the charity show, Deborah 'Foxy' Golding, sees the effort as playing her part in giving back to the inner-city communities of West Kingston.

"It's mostly a treat to persons from west Kingston who are less fortunate. The idea came about from growing and seeing a lot of people trying to survive in the inner city. They need something to look forward to," she said.

The charity show will be held on March 8 at Denham Town High School.

With no sponsor confirmed for the event as yet, it is mainly personal funding and help from friends that Golding uses in financing the show.

They are trying to get business persons to make contributions through purchasing tickets for the show for $1,000 at Jah-T Wholesale on Spanish Town Road.
