Jamaican-born New York judge seeking help
Crystal Harrison, Star Writer

A Jamaican-born New York judge is appealing to the public to assist with the recovery of items stolen from his vehicle during a night out to the popular Contenders Boxing Show on Old Hope Road, St Andrew, on Wednesday night.

The 47-year-old American citizen who says he left Jamaica about 26 years ago claims that a laptop, his house keys and other valuables were stolen from his vehicle.

According to the judge who had just arrived into the island on the evening of the show from the United States, "around 10 minutes or so after the boxing, I found out that they (thieves) had broken a side window to the vehicle and taken my luggage, around four bags which had my car keys, house keys, my passport, laptop, digital camera and clothes. One of my friend's pocketbooks was also taken from the vehicle."

THE WEEKEND STAR has since learnt that his keys, passport and his friend's pocketbook have been returned. "I am grateful that my passport and my keys were returned but I don't take this personal because I work with these kind of persons on a daily basis. I wish they didn't do it but I understand. It seem as if somebody left the keys and the passport somewhere near Torrington Bridge, which is nowhere near where they were taken from," he said.

When the Matilda's Corner police were contacted, they confirmed that a report had in fact been made, but they were unable to give details as to the progress of their investigations as the investigating officer was not there.

In the meantime, the judge is asking anyone with any information that can assist with the return of his laptop and or other valuables to call 892-4242 or the Matilda's Corner police at 978-6003.
