LIME will unreservedly endorse the amendments to the Road Traffic Act being proposed by the National Road Safety Unit in the Ministry of Transport and Works which will implement regulations around the use of cellphones while driving. In a release yesterday, the company said that as one of Jamaica's leading corporate citizens, LIME is supportive of any policy that protects the life and well-being of every Jamaican. "LIME is acutely aware that there is a very active debate and major concerns around the use of cellphones while driving in several countries and that there has been a great deal of research on the subject," the release said. "While research is inconclusive about the link between using a phone while driving and car accidents, LIME believes safety and precaution should come first." The company added that as a corporate entity "we will always support initiatives that promote the safety, good health and well-being of our people." |
