Patrons were disappointed when the police brought Footloose to an early end last Saturday.

They were partying up a storm and dancing to Lady Saw's If Him Lef when the police entered the Sagicor car park, New Kingston, where the party was being held.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Happy Valentines. The officers are here," said Nico Supreme from Supreme Sound at 3:12 a.m. "That's it for the night, goodnight ladies and gentlemen."

While some made their way to the exit, others stood in amazement, as not so long ago they were dancing to Elephant Man songs such as Online and Signal Di Plane.

Earlier in the night, Supreme Sound gave patrons a taste of some '80s dancehall songs such as Ninja Man's Renking Meat. Supreme also took patrons to school with Grindsman's Benz and Bingie General's Touch A Button Nuh.

There was also an intense 'wifey and matey' segment with songs from the likes of Cobra and Lady Saw. By now the dancing in the venue had intensified. Spragga Benz's No Way got huge forwards and patrons were taken down memory lane with theme songs for television series such as Fresh Prince of Belair and Pink Panther.

Immediately after taking the controls, ZJ Liquid had everyone doing the lambada and electric slide before getting a taste of Beenie Man's Nuff Gal. Footloose was dedicated to the promoters who have been staging the event for five years. This was followed by a skanking segment with Bob Marley's Simmer Down and Desmond Dekker's Carry Go Bring Come.

Liquid got into more dancehall with Bounty Killer and Richie Stephens' Maniac and Spragga Benz's A1 Lover. There were also hits from General Degree, Bushman and General B. There was a switch to hip-hop songs such as Notorious B.I.G's Juicy and Tupac's Broken Wings. This was followed by a string of other popular songs of the same genre from previous decades.
