Bail offered in assault and robbery case

A 22-year-old man who has been accused of stabbing another because his money request was not met was granted $100,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Rason McFarlene from a St Thomas address who has been charged with assault with intent to rob and wounding with intent. He is to return to court on February 16, when the matter will be mentioned as the file is incomplete.

Allegations are that on January 19, about 4:30 p.m., the accused stabbed the complainant with a scissors and then tried to strangle him with a pillow.

It is alleged that a struggle developed and the complainant told the accused he would give him the money he had demanded from an automated teller machine in the Half-Way Tree area.

It is further alleged that the complainant and the accused drove to the Half-Way Tree Police Station where the accused ran from the vehicle after realising he was being trapped, but was later apprehended and charged.
