Hijacking mastermind reportedly held |

The Hunts Bay Police in St Andrew have in their custody a man believed to have masterminded last week's hijacking of a courier vehicle and the subsequent stealing of more than $60 million. The man, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigations, was reportedly held on Wednesday during an early morning operation at a premises in the Seaward Drive area in the parish. The suspect is scheduled for questioning and an identification parade which are to take place next week. deliberate accident According to reports, about 8 a.m. last Thursday, a courier vehicle was travelling along East Road, also in the parish, when a Honda motor car with three men aboard slammed into the back of the vehicle. The driver exited the vehicle to inspect the damage and while doing so, the Honda car's occupants pulled guns before driving away with the courier vehicle with the money inside. The driver of the courier vehicle was released earlier this week after being in custody for a week. Two other guards who were in the courier vehicle are also expected to be questioned. The police say they are yet to recover any of the stolen money. |
