A man who faces a murder charge after police found him with a SIM card belonging to a deceased man, who was beheaded and buried, was remanded when he appeared in court recently. Charged with murder is Germaine Stewart of Westchester, Portmore, St Catherine. When the case was mentioned in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court, the matter took on a new dimension. Stewart had to be helped into and out of the court by another inmate. His lawyer, Michael Jordon, told the court that his client, who is epileptic, was able-bodied when he was taken into custody. "Your Honour, he fell in his cell and was taken to hospital. He got an injection and now he cannot walk or even feed himself, " Jordon said. The judge told the police to take Stewart back to get a comprehensive check-up to see if bail should be granted. He is to return to court today, when the bail application can be made. Stewart is charged with one count of murder after police found three bodies buried near Westchester, the court heard. He was last seen with one of the deceased. He was taken into custody on December 24. 'Your Honour, he fell in his cell and was taken to hospital. He got an injection and now he cannot walk or even feed himself.' |
