Bounty Killer - NOW THE STAR has been the leading entertainment newspaper for 59 years, and so we have built up an impressive collection of photographs of some of our favourite entertainers. You name them, we have them. So in our latest feature, we will be digging deep into our archives to show you some of the oldest pictures of these artistes. After showcasing pictures of entertainers such as Sizzla Kalonji, ZJ Liquid, Lady Saw, Nadine Sutherland, Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, Tanya Stephens, Marcia Grffiths, this week we look at the 'General' Bounty Killer. Known for his 'cross, angry and miserable' persona, Rodney Price aka Bounty Killer, has been a leader in the dancehall scene since the early 1990s. Bounty's father owned and ran the Black Scorpio sound system at which he started his career as a selector in his early teens. At the age of 14, Bounty was shot by a stray bullet during a gunfight between rival political factions, and while in hospital decided on the name Bounty Killer. After recovering, he increased his performances on a greater number of sound systems, and turned his attention towards recording. countless hit songs Since then, the deejay has released countless hit songs such as Lodge, Poor People Fed Up, Wukless Bwoy, Eagle And the Hawk, Fren Fish, This Is How We Do It,among others. Bounty is a noted performer who entertains not only with his catchy lyrics but often his social commentary. Bounty was honoured last year at Reggae Sumfest for his contributions over the years. The deejay has also stayed in the spotlight through his dancehall collective known as 'The Alliance'. He and fellow deejay Beenie Man were involved in a long-publicised rivalry on and off since 1993, which officially ended last year. Bounty has also made headlines through his many encounters with the law, having spent time in police custody, and his numerous court cases.
