Bail extended in manslaughter case

The 33-year-old female driver who was involved in the January 3 motor vehicle accident in Liguanea, St Andrew, which claimed the lives of two women, had her bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Ann-Marie Williams, who has been charged with two counts of manslaughter, will have to return to court on March 30, when the matter will be mentioned as the file is incomplete.

A request from Allando Brown, attorney-at-law representing Williams, to not have his client fingerprinted was denied by Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.

In the meantime, the court was informed that the police are to do an analysis on William's phone records.

Reports from the police are that about 5 p.m., on the day of the incident, a white Toyota Avalon motor car that was travelling along the roadway, crashed into a bus stop killing the two women and injuring five persons, who were subsequently hospitalised.

Those dead have been identified as 54-year-old Joanna Scarlett from a Kingston 4 address and 60-year-old Esmeralda Evans.
