A policewoman from the St Andrew South Division was on Tuesday arrested on reasonable suspicion for Breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act and Dangerous Drugs Act. According to the complaint made to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), the constable seized a driver's licence from a motorist in August 2010. Following repeated attempts by the complainant after the seizure to retrieve the licence, the constable allegedly tried to solicit and accept money from the complainant. Members of the ACB, responding to the complaint, arrested the constable after she allegedly collected $3,000 from the complainant. During the course of effecting the arrest, what is suspected to be marijuana was found in the vehicle she was driving at the time. A file is being prepared for presentation to the director of public prosecutions for a ruling to be made. Investigations into the matter continue. |
