Rivals Jamalco and Tivoli 'A' will battle for top honours in tomorrow's A-League final, as the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Open League comes to a close at the Leila Robinson Courts today.

In the 4:00 p.m. curtain raiser UWI Revolution 'A' and Mico 'A' will contest the B-League final. All four teams booked their final berths following semi-final action on Thursday night, when Mico turned back G.C.Foster Strikers 'A' 23-15 and UWI Revolution stopped Tivoli 'B' 27-23 in Group B action. In the elite Group A Jamalco defeated their sister team Windalco 28-24, while Tivoli 'A' got the better of Waulgrovian 'A' 36-32 in the other encounter.

Despite the presence of Sunshine Girl captain Simone Forbes at goal attack and goal shooter Janielle Fowler, the Waulgrovian team, which included several schoolgirls, could not stop the Oberon Pitterson-led Tivoli 'A' team, as goal shooter Cleopatra Grant with 25 goals from 34 attempts and Jodi-Ann Ffrench with 11 from fifteen, had too much punch for the winners.

Fowler with 22 from 32 and Forbes 10 from 15 were the scorers for the losers.

In the second semi-final, which saw sister teams Jamalco and Windalco in action, the scores were close throughout the game. After the first quarter it was 6-6 with the winners leading by two for the majority of the game, before increasing their lead in the last five minutes of the game to win by four.

In the first Group B semi-final, led by The Queen's School outstanding goal shooter, Sade Ffrench, Tivoli were very competitive throughout the game and both teams had a close duel for the most part, before UWI's lanky goal shooter Alicia Williams found her rhythm late, scoring 15 from 23 attempts to give her team the win. Ffrench top scored for Tivoli 'B' with 13 from eighteen attempts.

For the fourth time this season, Mico, led by national senior players Vanessa Williams and Kimone Tulloch, got the better of the C Lloyd Walker-coached G.C.Foster team. Despite a lousy start from the Mico team in the first half, where they led 8-5, they stepped up the pace in the second half to pull away with a comfortable eight point win in the end. Goal shooter Sharna Carradice with 10 from 19 and goal attack Walker with eight from 11 were the top scorers for Mico.

Both teams will be meeting for the fifth time this season with the series tied 2-2. Mico squeezed out an exciting two points win in their last encounter a week ago in the semi-final of the Fastnet competition.
