Rivoli will attempt to maintain their lead in the South Central Confed Super League, when they play host to Downs of Manchester at Monk Street today, as the cross-zone fixtures get under way.

The cross-zone stage signals that a third of the preliminary rounds have been completed. Rivoli remain unbeaten with an impressive tally of four wins and a draw from five games. Their latest win was a 4-0 rout of Clarendon new-comers New Bowens last weekend. Their overall statistics are superior to all others, having scored 13 goals and conceded only one.

Calvert Fitzgerald, the man entrusted in guiding Rivol's planned return to the Premier League, told Star Sports he was more than satisfied with their season so far.

"Well, so far, so good," Fitzgerald replied, when asked about the team's general play.

"We haven't lost and we are leading so there is not much to complain about. We have a lot of youngsters who are doing well as most of our senior players are fighting injuries."

Rivoi will welcome a Downs team, who are just beginning to find their feet in the league, mining six points from a win and three draws.

Like Rivoli, Meadows hail from St Catherine and are unbeaten. The team are currently in second place on 11 points, but they have dropped points in consecutive matches after posting three straight victories when the league started. They will have little fear travelling to Manchester tomorrow to face Mile Gully, a team that has been terribly disappointing losing at home twice and drawing three times playing away.
