Seven persons fined for breaches of the copyright act

Seven persons were earlier this week fined more than $ 600,000 for breaches of the Copyright Act when they appeared before the Savanna-La-mar Resident Magistrate's Court in Westmoreland.

They are Kemar Allen, Robert Lewis, Rosemarie Bernard, Kelso Foster, Latoya Wilson, Damian James and Paul Dixon, all of Westmoreland addresses. The highest fine meted out was $260,000, which is to be paid by James.

These individuals were apprehended by the Savanna-la-Mar Police Street Crimes Unit for being in possession of illegal DVDs. They were arrested during a series of special operations carried out by police officers in the parish capital.
