Senior council officers transferred

The Portmore Municipal Council (PMC) has been hit with the transfer of two of its senior officers.

Those who have been transferred are Director of Planning Andre Griffiths and Chief Administrator David Parkes.

THE PORTMORE STAR learnt that Griffiths has been transferred to the Portland Parish Council.

Meanwhile, Parkes, who was transferred from the Portland Parish Council to the PMC four years ago, was sent to the St Elizabeth Parish Council.

Mayor of Portmore Keith Hinds, who said that 2011 will be a year of more work for the council, declared he believes the transfers are routine.

"What I can say is that councillors and everyone in the council will have to do what they are elected to do by the people," Hinds said.

Persons close to council told THE PORTMORE STAR that the transfers came against the background of a trip to Canop Chase in England, where visas were secured to travel; however, the trip was not taken.

This had resulted in an investigation by the local government authorities.

Attempts to get comments from the officers proved futile as numbers given rang without an answer.
