MAN BEATS WIFE AT POLICE STATION

Woman flogged after husband blames her for losing his work

A man who has pleaded guilty to beating his wife at a police station was sentenced in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Ian Harrison from a Corporate Area address, who was sentenced to 12 months' probation with counselling.

Allegations are that on September 3, around 11:40 a.m. Harrison and his wife had an altercation and she was attacked at the Rockfort Police Station, where she was making a report about him.

It is alleged that after being counselled by a police officer, Harrison hit his wife all over her body and said, "You see how yu come out a station fi mi an mek mi boss fire me."

Following the incident, he was arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

It is also alleged that the altercation was as a result of a money argument that Harrison had with his wife, where she was complaining that he needs to stop spending his salary on alcohol.
