Four shot, two dead

Four persons were shot, two fatally, in two separate incidents in the Willowdene and St John's Road areas of Spanish Town, St Catherine, yesterday.

Dead are Winston Anthony Hall, a 46-year-old plumber and Alfred Hibbert, otherwise called 'Doc', both of St John's Road.

According to reports from the St Catherine North police, about 6:15 p.m., explosions were heard along Rufus Henry Drive in the Willowdene Housing Scheme.

Residents later discovered that Hall was shot and killed, and the the police subsequently alerted.

A police source told THE STAR that Hall was attacked late last year but managed to escape his attackers.

According to his sister, she felt something move inside her when she heard the explosions, giving her the instant feeling that something went terribly wrong.

"Mi tell him dat mercy a go lef' him, mi minister to him. And when mi hear di shot dem mi feel something move inside mi," she said, before adding," God know why him get shot."

The sister also said that she called out to him three times before he left her sight, but he ignored her.

Hall's murder reportedly occurred just minutes after gunmen shot and injured two men and a woman at the entrance of 81 Street along St John's Road.

The three injured persons were taken to the hospital where Hibbert died, while the others were admitted.

As the news spread about the three people being shot, scores of residents who converged on the scene described the incident as an isolated one in their quiet community.

"Mi see when him tek out him phone and the next thing we know he was shot, mi only hear a barrage of shots," a male bystander told a STAR team which visited the scene shortly after the incident.
