Dear Pastor, I am having a problem. I have two boyfriends and I have to be lying to both of them. One is a soldier and the other is a policeman. Both of them treat me well, but I get more money from the policeman. Sometimes I am worried because the policeman comes to see me anytime of the night. I cannot time him. But when the soldier guy is coming, he always calls me first. The policeman has a babymother but they don't live together. I am not working so I need the money from both of them. I can always depend on the policeman to give me the money to pay my rent. And the little I get from the soldier, I buy food and pay my cable bill. Sometimes when I don't see any of them for a week, I have to get money from other guys. So you can say at times I sell. I am not proud of myself but I am not working and I have a daughter who is living in the country with my mother and I have to send money to the country for my mother to take of her. The soldier always talk about us getting married. But I cannot marry him because he does not have anywhere to put me and the policeman has his babymother and they are still together. I feel trapped. T, Dear T, You are taking big risks. So far you have got away by being cunning. But if you continue to be deceptive, you are going to be caught. One day when you are in bed with one of these men, the other may show up and a fight may break out and somebody may get seriously hurt. But let me mention something else - the time may come when your neighbours inform these men of the type of life you are living. The soldier man who always advises you he is coming may show up unexpectedly. And when women start to sell their bodies, it doesn't take long for people to know they are prostitutes. Try to get yourself a job. Work hard at it. Decide which one of these men you would really love to keep as your boyfriend and drop the other. Perhaps you should drop both of these men and seek a live-in job as a domestic helper, so you would not have to rely on any of them to pay your bills. Prostitution is not something you should practise. Pastor |
