Four students stabbed, another in custody

Four students of the Manning's High School in Westmoreland had to be rushed to the hospital in critical condition yesterday, and another taken into police custody, following a stabbing incident at the school.

Information received from police sources is that some time around 8 a.m., a student was standing beside his sister on the school compound when he was approached by another student said to be armed with a knife.

Further reports are that during an ensuing altercation between the two students, the weapon somehow fell and during a struggle for it, four students were left with knife injuries.

They were all taken to the Savanna-la-Mar hospital where two of them were said to be in critical condition.

One of the critically injured was reportedly transferred to the Cornwall Regional Hospital for treatment.
