The Mountain View Eastern Peace Centre came alive on Saturday for a Sports Fun Day courtesy of Claro.

Andrew Balbour, events and promotions manager with Claro was delighted with the turnout and the success of the event for the community. "Events like this are what Claro wants to place emphasis on," he stated. "Bringing communities together and uniting them under the banner of fun and friendly competition for the day, is the greatest reward." The fun day featured domino, netball, basketball and football competitions for the community teams to vie for trophies. The friendly competitions saw Burgher Uprising taking first place in the domino face-off, with Future Youths receiving honourable mention. The three-a-side basketball saw the Pistons winning against the Bobcats.

Five-a-side football for the juniors was won by the young Terrace Strikers in a well fought match with Windward Way. The adults' football competition had a humorous twist, with the same team, Slip Dock United, which had split their team in half, taking home both first and second place.

The netball was the highlight of the day. The ladies from Rollington Town took home first place with the All Star Girls taking second.

The day closed with an energetic appearance from Ricky Trooper, and performances by the Claro Ambassadors dance troupe, Shane-O and the Clarorific King himself, Mr G, who received a warm welcome.
