Case dismissed for accused chair thief

An employee of the University of the West Indies, Mona campus, who tried to steal a chair from the school property, had the case against him dismissed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's court yesterday.

The defendant, Elvis Thompson, had a no order made for the charge of simple larceny.

At the same time, the charge breaching the University of the West Indies Ministry of Security Act was admonished and discharged.

The court heard that on November 21, the accused was seen riding a bicycle along the walkway with the chair in his possession.

He was later stopped and questioned by security personnel while he tried to explain how the chair came about in his possession.

He was later accompanied by security personnel to the police station where he was charged.
