Music awards for Clarendonians

Promoter David Anderson of Temperature's Entertainment Limited is looking to honour Clarendonians who have contributed to the music industry through the Clarendon Music Awards which will be held on February 12 at the Quarry, Bustamante Highway in May Pen, Clarendon.

The awards ceremony will take place in the form of a dinner which will culminate into the ceremony and then an after-party and will include performances from artistes such as Merciless, Anthony Cruz, Assailant, Silver Cat, Professor Nuts and Singer Jah, among others.

"This is an historic event, there has never been a parish awards. It gives a relieving kind of the atmosphere for the Clarendonians, they can come out and enjoy a fine evening. We're putting everything that is musically connected under one umbrella and presenting it as a package to them," said Anderson.

There are 50 categories with at least three individuals in each category. Voting for the nominees are done by sending text messages, emails and phone calls, and according to Anderson, calls come from as far as Germany, Canada and the United States. Popular singjay, I-Octane is poised to do well at the awards as he has a total of nine nominations, the most for any artiste. "The way how things are going for him he might just sweep all nine," laughed Anderson.

The event will be hosted by Lady D, Sasha Bling and MC Roger Rogers. Sound systems like Body Guard, Top Secret, Kevin Serious and Sheldon Vibes will provide some musical excitement.

Tickets for the Clarendon Music Awards cost $800 presold, $1000 at the gate, $2000 for presold VIP tickets and $2500 for VIP tickets purchased at the gate. VIP is inclusive of dinner and mixed drinks.
