The Jamaica Volleyball Association (JAVA) will hold the inauguration ceremony for its newly acquired outdoor volleyball court at Independence Park Complex on Monday, at 3:30 p.m.

The association received the gift from the sport's regional governing body the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) whose President, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, will officially declare the facility open along with the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture the Honourable Olivia Grange.

Also joining in the historic unveiling is the first vice-president of the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) Lucille Hobson, along with JAVA President, Major Warrenton Dixon. According to Dixon, the acquisition of the court is a shot in the arm for the association, which finally has its own facility, which is 100 per cent dedicated to volleyball.

"In the past we have had to utilise G.C. Foster College over in St Catherine, as well as share other courts with various sporting disciplines, now we will have our very own court in Kingston, and that alone will allow us to better carry out our functions."
