Two American men believed to have entered Jamaica illegally were remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday, until January 31 when they will reappear in court. The defendants, Andre Peter Chin and Caple Angelo Palmer, both charged with illegal entry and possession of forged documents, pleaded not guilty. The court also heard that the men entered the island on a boat and are originally from the states of Florida and New Hampshire, respectively. Allegations are that the men entered the island on a boat sometime in 2007 and were not granted clearance to land by an immigration officer. The accused were also reported to have Jamaican driver's licences in fake names. The court heard that Chin had a licence in the name 'Curtis Mark Royce',while Palmer had the name, 'Lamar Thompson Lloyd' on his driver's licence. Both men were escorted to the Immigration Investigation Unit on January 23 by a team from the Organised Crime Investigation Division. |
