WOMEN FIGHT FOR FACEBOOK COMMENT

Two women who got involved in a fight because of comments which one of them posted on Facebook about the other's common-law husband were both fined $10,000 or six months in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The co-accused, Trudy-Ann Green and Judy-Ann Wiggan, were both charged with assault occasioning bodily harm as both received injuries from the altercation.

Conflicting accounts about how the fight started on the day of the incident were provided by both parties in court.

It was explained that at the centre of the conflict was a man who was currently in a relationship with one of the women. The same man was also previously involved in a relationship with the other accused.

The court heard that on the day of the incident, Green was on her way home in Rollington Town, Kingston, when she saw Wiggan, who was walking on the opposite side of the road.

According to Green, when she got to an intersection Wiggan approached her and reportedly said, "Hey gal, you no stop send them feisty message on Facebook to me?"

They then started to fight in the middle of the road and a stone was used to hit Green on her right hand.

The fight was stopped by a man who intervened.

Green also said that Wiggan came at her with a pair of scissors during the brawl.

Wiggan, in her account of the incident, explained that Green was the aggressor as she was the one walking home when she was assaulted.

It was reported that during the incident, Green said, "Hey gal,you know how long mi wah buk yuh."

Green is said to have held unto Wiggan and used her hand to hit her in the face.

After the tussle between the women, the matter was report to the Rollington Town Police Station.
