With a unique voice, personality and singing style, comes a new face to the music industry.

Twenty-four year-old Sancia Smith, who goes by the stage name Unique, has high hopes of going a long way in the music industry, and will stop at nothing to achieve her dreams of becoming a household name in Jamaica.

From the age of six, Unique started singing in church until it became a part of her everyday life.

"Singing, it makes me complete. It's just something that comes natural to me," she said.

Unique has only performed at school concerts and on church choirs, but she plans to expand on her experience in months to come.

Motivation and support from her family and friends is key for her, as they all encourage her to do what she loves.

"They normally just encourage me to keep doing my thing, and never give up if that's what I want to do," said Unique.

With songs such as Te Quiero Chico on the St Jago De La Vega rhythm, and A Song For Daddy, she is slowly gathering steam.

In years to come, Unique aims to be on top of her game as well as on top of the musical world.

"In five years time, achieving more and being successful at whatever I do, that's what I'm aiming for. Getting the world to know me, that's my focus," she said.
