Persons scampered for safety as shots rang out in Spanish Town yesterday resulting in the injury of one person and the killing of another. Dead is Jermaine Morrison, 31, a labourer of March Pen Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine. While in the town, THE STAR saw persons turning over their goods and running past motorists who themselves were trying to flee the scene. "Gi mi pass, yu no hear gunshot, di goods can tan mi wi buy more, " shouted a woman as she jumped between the moving vehicles. She was one of many that chose to beat a hasty retreat from the scene. It was then realised that Morrison along with another man were shot and injured. They were taken to the hospital, where Morrison was pronounced dead and the other admitted. Police reports are that about 1:30 p.m. Morrison and the others were standing on the sidewalk along Burke Road. A vehicle reportedly drove up and occupant/s fired shots hitting both men. The St Catherine North Homicide Unit are investigating. - R.T. |
