The Police Constable who was recently arrested after 65 pellets of ganja were allegedly found in the car in which he was travelling, was offered $100,000 bail with surety in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
The defendant, Audley Coleman, was represented by his attorney, Christopher Townsend, and is to return to court on March 24. Conditions of bail are that Coleman has to surrender his travel documents and is to report to the Spanish Town Police Station every Wednesday between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. A stop order was also put in place. The court heard that on the day of the incident, the defendant was driving a Honda Fit motor car along Lower Elleston Road in the Corporate Area when he was intercepted by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch. The trunk of the car was then searched and a bag was found with a sealed Ziploc bag within that reportedly contained the 65 pellets of ganja. When Coleman was questioned, he reportedly told investigators that he had no knowledge of the ganja. Coleman then revealed that his cousin was responsible for the contraband because he had the vehicle to himself the previous day. The court heard that the defendant's cousin has since been questioned by the police. |
