Westmoreland man arrested for illegal gun

A 36-year-old man was on Sunday arrested and charged in connection with the discovery of an illegal firearm in Grange Hill, Westmoreland.

He has been identified as Edgergon Gordon, otherwise called 'Jason', a shopkeeper of Church Lincoln district in Grange Hill. Gordon has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Information reaching THE STAR from the Savanna-la-Mar police is that on January 17, Gordon was seen leaving his home when he was stopped by the police who requested a search of his person.

During the search, the police said, a Carandai 9mm pistol and a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition were seized.

Gordon was taken into police custody and following investigations, he was formally charged on Sunday. Police told THE STAR that he is booked to appear in the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate's Court later this week.
