Car thief granted bail |

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer A man who reportedly robbed a female of her motor vehicle in early December was granted bail on Friday when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court. He is Carlington Ulett, 27-year-old and unemployed of Windsor Heights, Central Village, St Catherine. Defence attorney Courtney Maxwell, in applying for bail, told the court Ulett was not pointed out on the identification parade. He added that no other evidence was furnished as to why his client was charged. On these grounds, plus the length of time in custody, the lawyer said it is justifiable for bail to be granted. It was granted on condition that Ulett reappear in court on February 1, when the matter will again be mentioned. Allegations are that on the day in question about 9:00 p.m., the complainant drove home. She was reportedly pounced upon by Ulett and another man who robbed her at gunpoint of her Suzuki Grand Vitara. Both men were taken into custody by the Portmore police on suspicion of robbery with aggravation. |
