Western Bureau: Holland High of Hague in Trelawny created history on Monday afternoon when they completed a come-from-behind series win over Rhodes Hall High School to win the best-of-three finals in the Under-16 section of the 2010-11 ISSA/KFC Western High Schools Basketball Competition. In an exciting display, the Ricardo Brooks-coached Holland, who lost Game One 46-44 but rebounded to take Game Two 55-36, led from start to finish in the deciding Game Three, which was played at Montego Bay Cricket Club Courts, as they came away with a 38-33 win. "This is a tremendous feeling," said Brooks. "We had to work hard and overcome many obstacles but it was worth it ... . This is the first ISSA competition we are winning at Holland High School." In a game which was disrupted several times by rain, Holland won three of the four quarters as they controlled the flow of the game. They took the first quarter 11-6, the second 12-10, the third 11-8, before holding on for the win. The diminutive Clifton Shettleworth was the undisputed star for Holland High, scoring 16 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Kenrick Lindo and Okari Edwards supported well, scoring 13 and 12 points, respectively. For Rhodes Hall, Leon Moncrieffe and Ewan Symister had good returns, scoring a game-high 18 points and 10 points, respectively. Despite their loss, Rhodes Hall, who were contesting their first ISSA/KFC basketball final, will join Holland in the all-island play-off, which will feature the winners of the various regional tournaments and the beaten finalists. Many-time champions Cornwall College won the Under-19 title last Thursday afternoon when they defeated Manning's 59-49 in their Game Two clash to take the best-of-three finals 2-0. Cornwall had won Game One 70-61.
