Guns, ammo seized in Green Pond

Four illegal guns and more than 1,200 assorted rounds of ammunition were seized by the police yesterday in Green Pond, St James.

The seizure was reportedly made during an operation involving members of the Mobile Reserve, Flying Squad and personnel from the St James police.

The team reportedly went to Capital Heights in Green Pond where they also seized four laptop computers, one telescope, one ballistic helmet and three ballistic vests.

The guns seized are a .22 Rifle; one AK Rifle; one Browning 12 gauge shotgun, and an Uzi sub-machine gun.

The ammunition seized are four hundred and eighty-seven .223 calibre rounds which are used in M-16 rifles; five hundred and ninety-eight 7.62 calibre rounds which are used in AK rifles; and seventy-two .357 Magnum Revolver rounds.

Twenty-six .40 rounds, three 12-gauge rounds and fifteen 9mm rounds were also found.

Investigations into the seizure are ongoing.
