One of the latest dance moves that seems as if it is becoming a hit is 'Big and Nasty' that was created by popular group Dance Xpressionz.

With an unconventional name, the dance move came about during one of the group's regular rehearsals.

According to the group's manager, Shelly-Ann Callum, "It came about with one of the members doing the dance move. It was just a joke around thing in the space."

Since starting the group years ago, she said they always wanted to have a popular dance with a catchy name. 'Big and Nasty' was the perfect name for this latest dance.

"From the inception, we wanted a dance to give us recognition in the dancehall," Callum said, noting that the name is also a slang.

As for the name, she said it is usually a shocker for most person.

"The first time they heard it there was a pause, but when they saw the dance there was 'wow'," Callum said.

She said the dance is done using different parts of the body. The head, hands, legs and pelvic region are all part of the process.

Elephant Man described the dance move in one of his recent songs, also of the same name.

"Wine up yuhself then dip/ Foot dem apart then yuh go dung pon di floor and split/ Wine and come back up with it/ Gal yuh know seh yuh have it inna yuh hip and yuh waistline fit/ So bubble for the treble while the baseline hit/ Yuh mek Willie and John and Dick get stiff," he said in the song that was released in December.

Callum further explained that it is a subtle dance that can even be done with a male partner.

"It can be done by both males and females. It has nothing to do with daggering. It is a soft and subtle dance. It is not done in any rough or haggard way. You put your entire body in it," she told THE STAR, while thanking selector Gary Chucks for his hand in making the Big and Nasty song and dance move popular.

Meanwhile, Callum said Dance Xpressionz will resume its dance classes on February 28 and they also have the RJR Cross Country Tour lined up.

She also noted that Dance Xpressionz recently received the awards for 'Best International Dance Group' and 'Best Female Dance Group' at Stone Love Anniversary recently.
