The Dancin' Dynamite competition was officially launched on Saturday at the LIME store in the Bargain Village Plaza in May Pen, and the producers of the show are promising bigger and better things for the show's sixth season.

This season the show will be moving to CVM-TV and viewers can expect at least two to three repeats of the show each week.

Speaking at the launch, the show's executive producer Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small said that whereas in previous years competitors were only allowed to participate in pairs, this season dancers may enter in groups of four and five. Competitors from different countries will also be participating in the show.

Since its inception, the competition has helped to launch the careers of many dancers such as the very popular dancing duos Card Unit and Unlimited Dancers.

Small says that this year the contestants on the show will be exposed to various genres, and will also be getting professional help with their development as they undertake each genre.

Auditions will run from January 15 until February 5 when they are expected to culminate at the Edna Manley College. The first audition for this season will be this Saturday in May Pen, at the Lime Store inside Bargain Village.

The winners will be getting a variety of prizes from the sponsors of the competition, including scholarships to attend the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts as well as Excelsior Community College.

Dancin' Dynamite judge Orville Hall, in giving a pep talk to prospective contestants, said he is expecting the Jamaican dancers to "bring it" this season as the bar has been raised by the previous winners, and they should step up their game to compete against the international contestants.

The audience was kept entertained with performances from past contestants such as the Famous Brothers and Ed Hardy Dancers who said they will be entering the competition this year again, with their eyes focused on copping the crown.

The launch was also punctuated with performances from Khago, Tippa and his young protégé Diamond and Petrol.
