Man remanded for assaulting teen

A man who is being accused of sexually molesting a teenage boy under his care was ordered remanded by the court when he appeared on indecent assault charges yesterday.

An order was also made for the victim to be taken to a place of safety.

The order was made when the accused appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Marcia Dunbar-Green.

The RM told the accused it was a very serious offence for which he has been charged.

He was told that the question of bail would not be entertained.

The allegations before the court are that the man, who is employed to one of Jamaica's largest donor agencies, sexually molested the boy repeatedly over a four-year period.

He was said to have physically assaulted the complainant. A report was made to the Spanish Town police and an investigation led to charges of assault occasion bodily harm,buggery and indecent assault being brought against the accused.

The Star was informed by a reliable police source that the boy in question has been under the care and protection of the suspect for four years.

He is scheduled to reappear on February 18, when the case will again be mentioned.
