Don't judge me, Pharisee! |

Dear Pastor, I am writing to you from London, but I am a US citizen. I bought the Jamaican Star and your column caught my eye. I am a bit confused with your reply to people who have asked you questions. As a matter of fact, I am severely confused about your whole column as a man of God. Pastor, as a Christian, you should be encouraging people to serve the Lord, and encouraging them to give their hearts to the Lord instead of talking about sex. Time is winding down. People need to hear that God is coming soon and the penalty of sin is hell. Your duty as a man of God is to witness to lost souls, not to tell teenagers or the unwed about sex, and how to get involved in sexual intercourse. Shame on you, Pastor! I have been reading your column for years, and I have never yet read any of your columns where you encourage anyone to serve the Lord. Your duty as a man of God is to tell people to flee fornication and adultery, but instead, you are encouraging them to go out and have sex. I cannot understand what is going on. Pastor, the Bible says the wages of sin is death, and I hope you realise that. Tell the people about heaven and the consequences of hell and stop encouraging their bad behaviours. God did not call you to lead people to hell, rather to encourage them to come to Him. So please get it together, encourage them to serve the Lord and that includes you too. Maybe you, should think seriously of giving your heart to the Lord because you are responsible for quite a few souls that will be lost. Pastor, the Bible says that many are called, but few are chosen. I do not know if you are a real pastor, because reading your columns makes me wonder. God have mercy on this man's soul. I will be praying for you and your fans. Thank you, and may you and these lost souls come to know the Lord as your personal Saviour. A., London, England Dear A., I thought you were a Christian but your letter reveals that you are a blatant liar. You claim I encourage people to fornicate and commit adultery. I challenge you to name one publication of my column in which I have done so. I repeat, name one, just one. You will never be able to do so. Never, never, never. You are within your right to criticise me, but you must speak the truth. I do not even need to defend myself because my record stands. You are playing God in judging and condemning me. If you were wise, you would pray for me. You are behaving as the Pharisee who went to the temple and told God in his prayers how good he was. At the same time, there was a publican there who said, "Lord, have mercy upon me, a sinner." God was not pleased with the Pharisee but forgave the Publican of his sins. You are behaving as a Pharisee. You have revealed in your letter that you are self righteous. I claim to be nothing before God but a sinner saved by grace. I repeat, I do not have to defend myself but I know on many occasions I have encouraged people to serve the Lord and have even taken the time to give them passages of Scripture to read. Do you want to tell me you have never read any of these columns? Or, are you just unfair in your condemnation? If you feel God has appointed you to "set me straight", then do it again. I can take it. I am only sorry you are bringing shame upon yourself by not speaking the truth. I expect you, being such a holy man of God, to be truthful. Pastor |
