Hayles not perturbed

Defending Digicel Premier League champions, Harbour View, have found themselves in the unfamiliar position of fifth in the standings going into the third round. The Stars of the East have finished outside of the top three only once over the last five seasons.

With the team currently sitting on 33 points, just a mere five off leaders Tivoli Gardens, head coach Donovan Hayles is not overly perturbed.

"I am not worried about our position, whether it is fourth or fifth, it is the points and the points are not far off as it relates to the leaders," Hayles stated.

He is also pleased with the way in which his team has been able to gradually close the gap on the leaders after getting off to a poor start.

"While we are fifth in table, we have moved way up. We are coming from 11 points off the pace to be just five points off the leaders and that is very positive," Hayles said.

"We have never lost our confidence, even though we are in an unfamiliar position.

"There is a long way to go and coming from so deep and to now be just five points off the leaders, just two games and we can be in front," he added.

The team experienced a rich goalscoring form just before the break, finding the back of the net on seven occasions in two games, included three against leaders Tivoli Gardens. Hayles is looking to continue in the same vein and has been using the break to get the team to relax.

"The players played relaxed in the last two games before the break and we were more composed, purposeful and were able to score seven goals," Hayles said. "While we have been playing good open football and have had ball possession, we weren't solid around the back as well as we weren't proficient in finishing."
