POPULAR LAWYER DIES

Sandra Alcott - File

Entertainment lawyer and president/founder of Jamaican Association of Female Artistes (JAFA), Sandra Alcott, died yesterday at the University Hospital of the West Indies after succumbing to illness.

Reggae singer Tony Rebel, who said he was very close to Alcott, spoke to THE STAR saying, "It's very sad. She's a good friend of mine. She's been my lawyer for about close to 19 years. We're in the making of Rebel Salute and she would have had her VIP band and ready to have fun."

He spoke of his last memories of Alcott at the hospital where he, Alcott's daughter and Queen Ifrica spoke to Alcott. "We saw her on Monday night in the ICU at the hospital and I spoke to her but she didn't reply, but I know she heard us," said a sad sounding Tony Rebel.

He described her as a soulful individual who will be surely missed by all. "Sandra Alcott is one of those pure souls that gave herself and showed love to a community that couldn't afford the legal fee. She was a person of art, a wonderful soul. I'm sure she is and will be missed by the music and legal fraternities. The amount of people who call and ask mi if is true from day," he said.

Efforts to contact Alcott's daughter were unsuccessful.
