Exceptional Appleton Barcode |

Nothing short of exceptional - that is the phrase one can use to accurately describe Monday night's sixth staging of the ultra drink-inclusive, Appleton Barcode. The venue, the Police Officers Club, located at 34 Hope Road, was 'invaded' by patrons who seemed to be fueled only by the alcoholic beverages which were in abundance at the bars. The Jamrock Entertainment Management (JEM) party, which was scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and end at midnight, did not end until approximately 1:30 a.m., much to the delight of patrons, who only cared to enjoy the night. And that they did, as the only low point of the event was in the early hours when patrons were just strolling in. With only a few patrons inside the venue at 8 p.m., ZJ Chrome played several old dancehall songs such as Sen On, Jersey, Dancehall Nice Again and Dem Badmind in an attempt to keep the interest of those inside and to invite persons standing on the outside. Patrons also enjoyed a brief soca segment with songs like Tempted To Touch, Roll It Gal, I Dare You, I Just Wanna Dance With You and Push Bumpa. It did not take long for the party to shift into high gear, as dedicated Barcode patrons made their entrance shortly after. 'all hell broke loose' That was when 'all hell broke loose', as with the venue now almost full, the deejays were relentless in delivering a musical onslaught to the alcohol-induced patrons, who danced to the hits played by ZJs Chrome and Johnny Kool, Code Red, and DJ Karyzma. Several entertainers also turned out for the event, among them, Elephant Man, Bounty Killer, Cham, Chino, Tornado, Romeich, and Konshens. And what would an Appleton Barcode be without the women? The LIME girls were like late Christmas gifts for some male patrons, as they got jiggy on the dancefloor to songs like Pon Di Floor, Jim Screechy and Jackhammer. Beyonce Wine and Jump Up Inna Di Benz also had females in a frenzy, who showed their love for these songs by dancing up a storm with their male counterparts who gladly accepted their gifts. |
