Two men alleged to have stolen a boat engine valued at about $600,000 had their day in court yesterday. The accused, Ziggy Ellis and André Clarke, pleaded not guilty to simple larceny in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on the day. Both men were remanded in custody and are set to return to court on December 17. The court heard that the boat engine was the property of the owner of the Jamaica Marine World on Waltham Park Road. Allegations are that on the day of the incident, the accused stole the boat engine and had tried to sell it to a scrap-metal yard later on. Luckily, the complainant had contacted several scrap-metal dealers and advised them to be on the lookout for the engine which he had described to them. |
