Darrio pleased with career's progress

With some new songs and recent tours, upcoming dancehall artiste Darrio said he is pleased with the way his career is going.

Earlier this year, Darrio said he did a five-week tour of Europe and two weeks in Japan. The popularity of his songs, Virtual Gallis and Owna Gun, on the 'Trailer Reload' rhythm, took him to places like Belize, St Vincent and Barbados.

At first, he said it took a while for him to get accustomed to touring, but now he enjoys it.

"At first, mi neva used to it. But mi love performing for the people. Mi just get fi love it. Touring is just part of my life now so mi haffi do it," Darrio told THE STAR.

With songs like Ungrateful and Touch Di Road doing well, Darrio said he is satisfied with the direction his career is going in.

"Mi caan complain. I have been putting out work and getting good feedback and my songs are getting some airplay. It's a real good look dat. One time, it was just the collaborations and people a wonder if da yute ya nuh do any song by himself. So people can now hear what Darrio has to offer," said the artiste, who gained some popularity from collaborations with Konshens like Hooked On You and Do Di Ting.

In addition, Darrio said he will be releasing Girlie Girlie on the 'G-Shock' rhythm and a collaboration on Romeich Records' 'Steppings' rhythm. He said he also got an exclusive mixtape deal with a French label called Downtown Paris. It has not been named but will be released in June.
