![]() Mitchly Waul Robert Bailey, Star Writer KSAFA Claro Super League champions Cavalier will be looking to continue their excellent early season start, when they hosts fourth-place Rae Town in today's feature match at Collie Smith Drive starting at 3 p.m. Cavalier lead the standings with 26 points, nine ahead of Rae Town, who are in fourth-place with 17. In the day's other games, second-place August Town (20), who were demoted from the Premier League last season, will face a tricky contest when they play away to hosts and seventh-place Barbican (13). Third-place the University of the West Indies (UWI) (17), will oppose ninth-place Mountain View United (9) at the UWI Bowl and Rockfort (16) await Constant Spring, at the Rockfort field. Santos (15) entertain bottom-place Real Mona (5) at the Buttercup Park, while Bull Bay (9) tackle Duhaney Park (9) at the Bull Pen. The David Laylor-coached Cavalier, whose record stands at eight wins and two draws this season, are also the most prolific scoring team in the competition. They have scored 24 times and also boast a stingy defensive record, conceding a mere seven. "It is going to be very hard, with them being in fourth place, because they are always a tough team to play against," said Laylor. "Any team going up against Cavalier at this point of the season is going to play their best game because every team wants to knock us off the top of the table. They also want to prevent themselves from being embarrassed by us," he added. "We are very confident at this point because the team have been training hard and players are focused, knowing that we still have a lot of work to do." Cavalier will rest their hopes in the hands of their leading scorer, Michily Waugh, who has netted six goals this season, along with Loxley Thompson, Donovan Alvaranga and Horace Sharpe. On the other hand, Rae Town's record stands at five wins, two draws and three losses. They have also scored 20 goals while conceding 11. Prolific striker Damion Jackson, who was the leading scorer in last year's competition, will lead Rae Town's attack, along with the likes of Hughall Lawson, Orlando Walters and Renel Colley. |
