A Portmore man who was allegedly held with a quantity of cocaine was granted $200,000 bail when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court. He is Donovan Muir of Lauderdale Avenue, Independence City. When the case came up in court before Senior Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green on Tuesday, he pleaded not guilty. In applying for bail, attorney-at-law Xavier Maine told the court that his client is not a flight risk and that he has a steady place of abode and will turn up for his court hearing. Bail was granted on condition that he reports to the Waterford Police Station in St Catherine weekly and return to court in February next year. Allegation before the court are that the police, acting on information that cocaine was being peddled in Independence City, conducted a raid. When the police went there, Muir reportedly threw away a bag which, when retrieved, was found to contain a white powdery substance resembling cocaine.
