Would-be robber shot

A would-be robber was reportedly shot and injured by a security guard during a foiled robbery attempt at the Sweetwood Jerk Centre near Emancipation Park in New Kingston, St Andrew, yesterday.

The injured man and a crony is said to have nevertheless escaped the scene in a waiting motor car.

According to police reports, about 10:30 a.m. two men went to the premises and held up the owners of the jerk centre, who managed to alert security guards who were on the premises.

Upon seeing one of the security guards, one of the robbers is said to have opened fire, and was hit when the guard returned the fire. The robbers then fled.

Investigators attached to the St Andrew central division are probing the incident.
