St Thomas Technical were crowned the new rural Busta/ISSA Under-16 champions after ousting defending champions Munro 1-0, while Cornwall prevailed over Glenmuir 4-3 on penalties to take the Under-14 crown. Both games were played at Brooks Park in Mandeville on Wednesday. St Thomas, who are first-time winners of the crown, had earlier beaten McGrath High to win the Abnerwirght Cup, the sectional trophy awarded to teams from one half of the rural belt. Following a highly competitive match, Marvin Powell secured the all-important goal in the 72nd minute when he was allowed to control a Shamarie Brown cross on his chest, to set up a volley that beat the Munro national custodian Akeem Forbes. St Thomas can now hope for more glory, as they are scheduled to face corporate area champions Excelsior. under-14 crown Cornwall earned the Under-14 crown the hard way after coming from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw with Glenmuir during regulation and extra-time. They then showed better composure to win the penalty shoot-out 4-3. Ricardo Dennis gave Glenmuir the lead in the 8th minute, but captain Zachary Headley replied promptly, a minute later. Mallique Palmer scored to restore Glenmuir's lead at 2-1. However, Cornwall stole their title hopes when Tajay Kelly produced the best goal of the game, an 18-yard shot that produced the equaliser. Kelly would then score the deciding penalty to secure the title and as well as the chance to gain the all-island honours against urban area Under-14 winners Jamaica College.
