Man remanded for ganja possession |

|
A man who has been charged with the possession of one and half pounds of ganja was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. He is Devon Edwards from Harbour View, Kingston 17. Edwards is to return to court on December 20 for sentencing. Edwards has also been charged with dealing with ganja and taking steps to export ganja. Allegations are that on November 29 about 11:45 a.m., the accused was about to board an outgoing Caribbean Airlines flight to Trinidad when he was stopped, interviewed and searched by a police officer. It is alleged that in the process of the accused being interviewed by the police officer, he confessed to having swallowed a quantity of pellets. The accused was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was examined, x-rayed and admitted. It is further alleged that he expelled a total of 60 pellets of ganja. He was arrested and charged for the drug. |
