Lady Saw to shine on Sunday |

Lady Saw - File The queen of dancehall, Lady Saw, says she is eagerly looking forward to performing at the Red Stripe Bold free concert this weekend on Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston. At the concert set for between 5 and 9 p.m. Sunday, December 12, Lady Saw will be among the high-quality entertainers that will be on show as Red Stripe Bold kicks off their Stand Out campaign by engaging the talents of entertainers and players from the fashion industry who stand out in their respective fields. Lady Saw, born Marion Hall, has for the last two decades delivered a body of work that rivals - and in many instances - exceeds the work of many of her male counterparts who have gone on to become legends of dancehall. Despite her iconic status she still takes time to recognise the talents of the current generation of entertainers. "I love Kartel. He is brilliant, he is such a great writer; he is a lyricist," she said. She added that she is seriously considering doing a song with him. "I know he has the capacity to find a good song for us," she reveals. She also expressed love and respect for the other entertainers who will be on show, including Kartel, who will be performing for free; Cham; I-Octane, whom she describes as an entertainer who has lyrics that people can relate to; and Tarrus Riley. "I saw the line-up in THE STAR and it's looking good," she said. But with all the talent that will be on show, Lady Saw intends to stand out from the crowd. "It's been a while since I got to shine and showcase Lady Saw/Marion Hall. It's a good fit for me and I like working with corporate Jamaica," she said. "I'm ready to go. I already bought my dress and I plan to look chic. I am wearing a black dress, to represent, and maybe wear some gold or some red shoes." With patrons who arrive early assured of getting free bottles of Red Stripe Bold, spirits will be high. Lady Saw intends to take them higher as she plans to unleash a musical feast fit for a queen. "I have an album, My Way, that has been out since September and I will be doing about four or five tracks from that," she says. "I'm A Woman, which is an introduction to the Marion Hall album coming. Then you know people are coming to party so I will be doing I am so H-O-T, hot baby." She also plans to perform some of her more famous songs including I've Got Your Man and Man A Di Least. "I can't do a show without those so I might do a medley," she revealed. Lady Saw says she likes what Red Stripe has been doing with their brands and supports them in their efforts. "I like it," she says. |
