Unity FC won the game 3-1. - Ricardo Makyn Last year's beaten finalist Caribbean Strikers suffered a crushing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Unity FC in Sunday's action of the Claro/INSPORTS All-Island Community Football League at Breezy Castle. In the feature game of a double-header, that also saw Parade Gardens whipping Strikers FC 5-1 in the curtain-raiser, the defending Kingston champions raced into a seventh-minute lead courtesy of a Ricardo Bryan strike, but it all went downhill for the Spanish Town-based team from then on. Kavorn Shue netted two quick responses for Unity FC in the 21st and 25th minutes, respectively, to rock the Caribbean Strikers team, before substitute Odell Campbell secured all three points by pouncing on a rebound from a free kick that came crashing off the crossbar on the stroke of full time. In the opener, Strikers FC proved no match for the Parade Gardens outfit who quickly helped themselves to three first-half goals; two from Sean Smickle (13th, 35th minutes) and a 30-yard pile-driver from Shain Williams. Strikers FC showed a glimpse of life in the 38th minute when Kenyatta Stephens found a path to goal, but Parade Gardens heaped on the misery, through Ricardo Stephenson (67th) and Marvin Dean (79th) to wrap up the three points. |
