Last season's first end-of-round finalist and overall fourth place finishers, St Georges' miserable Digicel Premier League (DPL) campaign continued yesterday, as they were condemned to their 11th defeat of the season after promoted team Benfica came from behind to edge them 2-1 at Drax Hall.

Dever Orgill netted in the 31st minute to give St Georges the lead, but second half strikes from Garfield Reid (59th) and substitute Everton Marsh (76th) saw Benfica capture all three points to move up one spot in the standings to sixth on 21 points. St Georges remains rooted to the bottom of the 12-team table with a mere eight points after 15 round of matches.

Tivoli (30 points) maintained their two-point lead atop the standings, despite playing away to a one-all draw with 10th place Village United (15 points). Jermaine Taylor (75th) scored for Village before Cordell Simpson (78th) pulled Tivoli level.

Second place Waterhouse came from behind to earn a one-all draw with Reno. Peter Keyes 75th minute strike for Waterhouse cancelled out Fabian Blake's 70th minute opener for the home team. Waterhouse moved up to 28 points, while Reno fell one place to ninth on 17 points.

Arnett Gardens earned a workman like 2-0 win over Boys' Town in the Trench Town derby. Dennis McKenley (22nd) and Kirk Ramsay (49th) scored for the Junglists to see them move up a place to eighth with 19 points, while Boys' Town (26 points) remain third.

The match despite being a Boys' Town home game was played at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex but Boys' Town's coach Andrew Price does not believe this is to be blamed for his team suffering their first 'home' defeat of the season.

"The team just didn't play well today, we came out very flat and we just didn't play well today," said Price. "They have to understand, they are the reason why we move these games here because we have to generate the revenue so that we can pay them and pay the bills that are outstanding," he added.

Arnett Gardens coach, Paul 'Tegat' Davis was very pleased with his team's performance.

"You could see character tonight, you could see the guys fighting and the fitness level and everything that we were expecting tonight, we really got it."

The round's other derby match-up between Clarendon-based Sporting Central Academy and Humble Lion ended in a one-all draw. Kevin Mighty (3rd) gave the Lions a dream start but Dale Watson (66th) salvaged a point for Sporting. Humble Lion ended the game with 10 players as Shawn Coleman was ejected in the 54th minute after committing his second bookable offence. The result left Humble Lion in the relegation zone on 13 points, while Sporting drop a spot to seventh with 20 points.

Rafique Thomas' 40th minute goal gave defending champions Harbour View all three points against fourth place Portmore United. The win saw Harbour View (24) move level on points with their opponents but Portmore holds a superior goal difference.
